Sybase Interfaces, developed by Sybase, Inc., is the connectivity directory and network configuration component used across Sybase client/server environments. It centralizes the definitions of database services—such as Adaptive Server Enterprise, Replication Server, and Open Server applications—by mapping human-readable server names to network protocols, hosts, and ports. Sybase Open Client applications use these entries to reliably discover and connect to services across networks.

Administrators manage these settings via the interfaces file on UNIX or the sql.ini file on Windows, as well as through tools like dsedit and, optionally, centralized directory services (for example, LDAP). By separating connection details from application code, Sybase Interfaces simplifies deployment, promotes consistent connectivity across development, test, and production, and can include alternate network entries to support high availability. It is a foundational component of many Sybase installations, ensuring predictable and maintainable database connectivity.

Sybase Interfaces is developed by Sybase, Inc.. The most popular version of this product among our users is 12.5. The name of the program executable file is sqladv.exe.
